Information on the Church's daily cycle of prayer.
Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
The early Church sought to “pray without ceasing” through regular times of prayer, centering around the Psalms. This eventually developed into the Daily Office, a cycle of prayer centered around Scripture and the Psalms. Many Anglicans and other Christians have made it the center of their own prayers and found it very helpful.
The Anglican Service Book contains offices for the morning, for the evening, and at night (called Compline). These vary a bit from day to day, so we will soon have links to the offices customized with Psalms and Scripture readings for the current day.
