The only really effective apologia for Christianity comes down to two arguments, namely, the saints the Church has produced, and the art which has grown in her womb. Better witness is borne to the Lord by the splendor of holiness and art which have arisen in the community of believers than by the clever excuses which apologetics has come up with to justify the dark sides which, sadly, are so frequent in the Church’s human history. If the Church is to continue to transform and humanize the world, how can she dispense with beauty in her liturgies, that beauty which is so closely linked with love and with the radiance of the Resurrection? ~ Pope Benedict XVI
At the Church of the Good Shepherd, we strive to maintain a standard of musical worship appropriate to the "beauty of holiness" that is so much a part of our Anglo-Catholic tradition. Choral music is drawn mainly from the English cathedral repertory along with Latin church music and works from other traditions customarily adopted for Anglican use.
The Parish Choir consists mostly of volunteers with professional section leaders on each of the principal parts and sings every Sunday morning from the Solemnity of the Holy Cross to Solemnity of Corpus Christi, Evensong several times a year, and Holy Days as announced. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings. Anyone interested in joining the Parish Choir is encouraged to contact the Organist-Choirmaster. [Choir Room Telephone: 610-525-7529; E-mail:
