The Church of The Good Shepherd is a traditional Anglican Catholic parish founded upon the principles of the mid-19th century Oxford Movement and the subsequent Catholic Revival, which were clarion calls to the Church of England to return to her catholic and apostolic roots in worship, mission, and holiness of life. We are connected to orthodox Anglicans nationally and globally as we strive to be obedient to the scriptural teaching, faith, and order of historic Christianity, rooted in the Gospel of Christ regardless of the spirit of the age. We dedicate ourselves to the fulfillment of Christ’s prayer that we “all be one.”

We are a diverse congregation of Christians who have come here from different communities and from different denominational, social, and cultural backgrounds. We are united in worshiping God in the beauty of holiness, in the pursuit of spiritual growth, and in serving others in the Name of Christ.

The Rt. Rev. Dr. David L. Moyer, the Rector of our parish since 1989, is a bishop in the Traditional Anglican Communion (TAC), serving as Bishop of the Armed Forces and Bishop for the TAC churches in the United Kingdom. He is also licensed as a bishop in the Diocese of The Murray (Australia), which is in communion with the Archbishop of Canterbury. Bishop Moyer and his fellow members of the international College of Bishops are entrusted to safeguard church doctrine and discipline. The TAC seeks to achieve communion with the Roman Catholic Church while maintaining the revered traditions that constitute the cherished and centuries-old heritage of Anglican communities throughout the world – “unity without absorption.” As a parish we are in accord with these catholic and apostolic goals.

The Church of The Good Shepherd was in the news some years ago when our Rector was illegally and fraudulently “inhibited” and then “deposed” by the Bishop of the Diocese of Pennsylvania. The Church of The Good Shepherd continues to be a parish in the Diocese of Pennsylvania and neither the Vestry, nor our church otherwise, has taken any action to leave the Diocese. The Church of The Good Shepherd’s property and assets are under the stewardship and control of the parish. Neither the Episcopal Church nor the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania has any valid claim to the property of The Church of The Good Shepherd.

The pastoral mission of The Church of The Good Shepherd, Rosemont, is to be a beacon of the authority of Holy Scripture, the timeless Christian Truth and Catholic Faith of the Anglican Tradition. The celebration of the Holy Sacraments is central to our worship as we minister by preaching, teaching and healing in our parish, the community around us and the world.
