It’s never easy moving from one parish to another, especially when you’ve poured yourself into a parish church for a number of years, and when you are in what is called your “senior” years. People are led here for a variety of reasons from one parish to another, and it always is a joy to see Good Shepherd embrace the newcomer, and in seeing the newcomer embrace the parish. And what makes it truly special is when a person comes from one form of churchmanship to another, and is open to learn and grow. This, without a doubt, has been the case for Lynn Barrell. And what makes it truly special is when a person comes from one form of churchmanship to another, and is open to learn and grow. This, without a doubt, has been the case for Lynn Barrell. I knew Lynn in her other parish home as a fellow traveler in orthodox faith and in the good fight for the Church to be true to her Lord and heritage. Lynn came to us somewhere around the year 2000, and has made herself a vital and incredibly involved woman for my benefit and yours. A member of the Vestry, recent Chairman of the Nominating Committee, a lector, a member of the Altar Guild, a contributor to our many receptions, our liaison to St.Jude’s Shop in Havertown for candles and incense and copies of the Catechism for the Adult Forum, an office volunteer who helps with the Sunday bulletin and Rod and Staff assembly, a counter of our Sunday collections, one who stays informed and prayerful about parishioners going through sickness or loss of a loved one, and I’m sure I’m leaving out other involvements. Lynn, thank you and God bless you. And our prayers will be with you for your upcoming hip replacement. I think you’ll be ready to run a marathon in the near future.
